Show Me Healthy Families With MC+... Now called MO HealthNet for Kids

Kids snapshotHealth care coverage is a family matter. The high cost of health insurance has left thousands of Missouri families with no health care coverage. One way to protect your family - and your budget - is to check out MO HealthNet for Kids (MHK) coverage for your children. Children may be covered by MHK at no cost, or there may be monthly premiums based on your family size and income.

There also are MHK programs for pregnant women and very low-income parents.

MHK covered benefits include: doctor visits, prescriptions, hospital stays and other benefits.

Health care coverage isn't just about getting well. It's about staying healthy. MO HealthNet for Kids can help your family because it covers treatment for illness or injury and routine wellness care. Find out more about MHK today. See the new MO HealthNet for Kids website at www.dss.mo.gov/mhk/index.htm You may also call toll free: 1-877-KIDS-NOW.

Keep Your Child Covered ~ Watch Your Mailbox!

Here are some important things to know about your child's MO HealthNet coverage.

FSD caseworkers are required to check your family's income every year. If they send you a letter, you MUST answer quickly. If you don't, your child may lose MHK coverage and you'll have to apply again.

Some families must now pay a monthly premium.  After your first payment, it is very important to make every payment on time. If you don't, your child may lose their MHK coverage, and may not be eligible again for six months! There is a great way to be sure your payment gets in on time. You can have the payment taken out of your checking account automatically each month. It's easy and safe!

Remember these things to protect your child and their MHK benefits:

  • Keep your address current! Contact your FSD caseworker if you move.
  • Open your mail promptly! Respond right away to all FSD requests.
  • Make your premium payments on time! Use the automatic payment option if possible.
  • New Toll Free Number

Protect your child and their MO HealthNet for Kids benefits.

They might need MHK coverage tomorrow!

    Income Guidelines
Income is one factor used to help decide if a child qualifies for MC+. Children, ages birth to 19, whose gross family income is below 300% of the federal poverty level may be eligible, depending on their current insurance status. For example, a child (or children) in a family of three making less than $4,400 per month could be eligible for MC+. If family income is above 150% of the poverty level, monthly premiums ranging from $12 to $294 a month (covers all children in the family) will be charged. The premiums are based on family size and income. If you have questions about premiums, please call the Premium Collections Unit at 1-877-888-2811.
